Holiday Reports

Having had such a terrible holiday at Haven in 1999, we thought we should balance that poor holiday with honest feedback on our other holidays.

Old Court House Hotel, Jersey
This hotel is situated in Gorey, just 200 yards from the sandy Grouville bay and within easy walking distance of the magnificent Mont Orgueil Castle that is on all the Jersey postcards.  The photograph below was taken by myself in August 2000.

The family room that we were in was clean and spacious; all staff were very pleasant and courteous and the food was plentiful and of very high quality.

The hotel has a small mildly heated swimming pool outside together with a sunbathing area.

This was a most enjoyable visit, and we recommend this hotel to anyone considering a Jersey holiday.

Sunnydene Hotel, Guernsey
This hotel is situated in St Martins and although we would recommend a car for a Guernsey holiday, the bus services are reasonable.

This is a family run hotel catering for 40 guests and this hotel too provides excellent food and service.

If you have a family room, you will be 5 metres from the heated outside pool, and another 10 yards from their fair sized putting green.  I've included a picture of the pool with our two boys as we spent so much time there.

We stayed at the Sunnydene three times, returning in 2001, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on each occasion.  This hotel is thoroughly recommended for a Guernsey holiday.

Haven Hafan y Mor, North Wales
What could have been an enjoyable stay turned out to be a complete disaster as a result of a robbery and poor staff attitudes and unacceptable management controls.

See the full report here.

Not recommended.

Finally
If you book a holiday as a result of seeing these recommendations, please let me know if you agree with our verdict.
